Kia has decided to surprise the world by offering the first look at the upcoming K4 five-door hatchback.<br/><br/>The K4 five-door hatchback was unveiled on a video screen during the K4 sedan presentation at the New York International Auto Show.<br/>It looks like the compact hatchback will go on sale in the US after the sedan launch in the second half of 2024.<br/>Enthusiasts, rejoice! At least if you have a soft spot for compact hatchbacks. Kia believes the future of the automotive industry will include more than crossovers, and it surprised everyone with a first look at the five-door K4 hatchback that will soon join the sedan in the US lineup.<br/><br/>The automaker gave us our first look at the car during its K4 sedan presentation at the New York International Auto Show today. Although we already knew that the compact sedan would be introduced, the company has so far remained silent on plans for a hatchback version that will replace the Forte.<br/><br/>Few more details were offered, but Kia confirmed that the vehicle will be sold in the US and arrive later than the sedan. From the first images, it appears that little needs to change other than the roofline and rear end to transform the sedan into a hatchback.<br/><br/>Although it is not yet clear whether all powertrains will be shared between models, the K4 sedan will be offered with two engine options. The entry-level 2.0-liter engine produces 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS) and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque, while the 1.6-liter turbocharged option produces 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (195 Nm). lb-ft).<br/><br/>There may be nothing to say about the engines, but Kia prioritizes comfort and safety for the car. In addition to features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance technology, the vehicle is equipped with acoustic glass on the windshield and noise-reducing tires, taking its overall feel to a higher level.<br/><br/>Additionally, it can be equipped with a huge curved screen that offers wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These concepts include the Alpha Ace Coupe, the rugged Jax coupe for off-road enthusiasts, the Wolf pickup truck and both the Saga sedan and Saga Estate. The latest addition is an entry-level variant of the Wolf.<br/><br/>Like many other Alpha Engine projects, this turntable is currently only available in the virtual world. But since the truck was first introduced, Alpha says Wolf has widened the skateboard chassis, allowing it to fit a larger battery pack. Little is known about this package, but it is expected to give the EV a range of 350 miles (563 km).<br/><br/>The base Wolf also features a simplified interior, showcasing a single infotainment screen alongside conventional gauges. Alpha also claims that the Wolf has improved its steel structure and that this base model will be upgraded with new wheels with 31-inch tires.<br/><br/>The rendered model featured in this video exudes serious retro vibes, especially with its whitewall tires, evoking memories of Japanese pickup trucks from the late 1970s and early 1980s, such as the 1980 Toyota Hilux.<br/><br/>Interestingly, the Alpha does not use Tesla's NACS charging port, unlike almost every other automaker producing electric vehicles for North America. Instead, it has a CCS port and will support DC fast charging. Alpha says the battery can charge up to 80% in 30-60 minutes; This figure probably varies depending on battery size.<br/><br/>No matter how interesting Wolf looks with its entry-level and off-road-oriented appearance, it is too early to say whether Wolf or another Alpha product will go into production. Building a single EV model requires an extraordinary amount of money, let alone building the six of the seven models Alpha hopes to make.
